The orange leaves floating against the black background stand for the fierce brilliance life shows in its final moments. I painted them not as leaves about to fall, but as something giving off light right now. The prism-like particles of light that pour from their vitality linger quietly, even in the space left after the leaves have fallen. I believe in that power — the urge to remain in the world, vividly, one more time before everything ends.
