Some people stay so long in a gentle, warm place that their individuality slowly dies. What they truly want is to live vividly and fully as themselves, even if it means a thorny path — yet, afraid of being left behind, they can't bring themselves to leave the soft light. That's what I painted here. They can't let go of what they should let go of, and however far they reach, nothing is within reach from where they are. Watching others live vividly, they grow envious, and their hearts turn darker and darker. I was one of them. The path I'm taking now is far from easy, but when I look around, I see friends working just as hard — each in their own color — and that gives me real strength.
